The non-European countries have become a mainstay at the Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest famously sees musical acts from all over Europe compete for the big music prize. But, perhaps rather confusingly, there are acts from outside the continent that take part. Australia, Armenia and Israel still regularly compete in Eurovision and, in the past, Morocco has also put forward an act.

The reason they get to participate is that they have a broadcaster that is operating within Europe as part of the EBU. It is then up to that broadcaster to choose their performer either through a national, televised, selection process or via an internal selection.

Israel joined in 1973 with the song Ey Sham, translated to Somewhere from Hebrew and this year Michael Ben David performs I.M, Snap. Sadly, she didn't get through to the final. Meanwhile, Armenia joined Eurovision in 2006 with the song Without Your Love, performed by André. They are back this year after withdrawing in 2021 and Rosa Linn will represent the nation with the song

Definitely not mistaken for ever being in Europe is Australia, which joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 with Tonight Again by Guy Sebastian. This year Sheldon Riley is representing in Turin.
