Mandinga recorded a collaboration with rapper Pitbull and singer Ahmed Chawki. The band that represented Romania in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest was asked to be featured on the single Habibi, I love you. The duet is produced by the famous RedOne, who worked with superstars such as Lady Gaga before.
Ahmed Chawki’s duet with Mandinga is part of a bigger project that he started, to launch his first international single which features Pitbull as well. The Moroccan singer decided to record the song Habibi, I love you in different versions for various regions. He asked local artists from different countries to sing in their own language on his song. He recorded a Spanish version with Sophie Del Carmen, Kenza Farah features on the French edition and for the Dutch one, he asked singer Do to join him.
Mandinga was the first choice from Romania and Moldova for Ahmed Chawki to collaborate with. I am excited to work with such a talented band. Mandinga is the perfect choice for this duet, he explained. Elena Ionescu, singer of Mandinga, is very enthusiastic about the collaboration as well. I am super excited to be on the same song as Pitbull and Ahmed. The song sounds great!
Mandinga represented Romania in Eurovision in 2012 with their song Zaleilah. They made it through to the final where they finished in the 12th position with 71 points.
