Description:Unlike anything that enters the Bermuda Triangle, Exterior angles can be found—in more than one way. This video covers how to use the remote interior angles of a triangle to find the exterior angle using the Exterior Angle Theorem.

00:04Exterior and Remote Interior Angles, a la Shmoop
00:08Ever since you were a little kid, the Bermuda triangle has intrigued you.
00:13Come on...a mysterious triangle in the Atlantic where pretty much everything disappears...
00:17...possibly into alternate dimensions?
00:19Awesome. After years of taking navigation classes,
00:23sailing lessons, and overcoming your intense seasickness...
00:27...you've been accepted to join an expedition to the Bermuda triangle!
00:32You leave from Texas, traveling across the Gulf of Mexico toward the Bermuda triangle.
00:37You can barely contain your excitement when the Captain asks if you want to steer the ship.
00:42Before you do, though, he needs you to find the measure of the angle made by the ship,
00:47Miami, and San Juan.
00:49If the interior angles of the Bermuda triangle are 62 degrees and 85 degrees,
00:55what's the measure of this angle?
00:58The angle we're looking at is an exterior angle...
01:02...an angle formed by extending one of the sides of the triangle.
01:07The two angles that are inside the triangle and opposite from the exterior angle
01:11are called remote interior angles.
01:15To find the measure of the angle, we can use the Exterior Angle Theorem.
01:19The Exterior Angle Theorem tells us that the measure of an exterior angle equals the sum
01:25of its two remote interior angles...
01:28...since both are supplementary to the remaining interior angle.
01:33Our two remote interior angles are 62 and 85 degrees...
01:37...so the exterior angle has a measure of 62 degrees plus 85 degrees...
01:43...or 147 degrees.
01:46Now you can safely make it into the depths of the Bermuda Triangle.
01:50Make sure you send us a postcard from your wormhole.
