Facial Mole Removal Treatment - Sk:n Clinics

If you are concerned about the appearance of a facial mole (for example due to changes in its shape, colour and texture) you should seek advice from a qualified doctor. Changes can be an indication of skin cancer such as melanoma and early detection is key. At sk:n we have a large number of experienced doctors that can help check your mole.

We also offer facial mole removal treatments if you would like your mole removed due to cosmetic reasons.

What is facial mole removal?

It is the removal of a mole from the facial area, at sk:n we have the below mole removal treatments:

  • LASER REMOVAL – If your facial mole is small, you can have it removed with laser treatment. Laser mole removal uses light energy to break down the pigment within the mole and is suitable for use on the face as there is less risk of scarring.
  • SHAVE REMOVAL – Facial moles that protrude from the skin can be ‘shaved’ off under local anaesthetic (which numbs the area being treated). This is usually done using a scalpel and is relatively straightforward and painless. You may be left with a pink mark on your skin where the mole was, but this should fade over time.
  • EXCISION REMOVAL – Some facial moles may need to be cut away via an excision. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and requires a small stitch in the skin afterwards. A small scar will be left, which will fade over time.

When should I get a mole checked?

When carrying out a mole check, we are looking for specific changes in the mole’s appearance and texture. When checking your own moles, a good way of remembering exactly what to look for is to follow the ABCDE method, as recommended by the NHS:

Which moles can be treated?

The majority of facial moles do not require treatment, however, if your doctor is concerned that a mole could be cancerous they will then advise next steps. At sk:n we can remove moles for cosmetic reasons.

Your mole removal consultation: what to expect

Your mole removal consultation will be with a qualified doctor who will assess your mole and determine the most appropriate form of treatment. During this time you will be able to ask any questions you may have about your facial moles and get expert, personalised advice. If they decide your mole/moles can be removed, they will be able to carry out the procedure in-clinic. All of our clinics are monitored by the Care Quality Commission (or other relevant regulatory body) for your safety and peace of mind.
