It is terrifying to think about being separated from our beloved pets.
In an episode of Pit Bulls & Parolees, a loving dog owner struggled with this very scenario. Suzanne lost her 17-year-old dog, Jericho.
Jericho fell overboard and was lost to floodwater in New Orleans. It was thought, due to his age and the flood conditions, that he had died during or after the fall.
Dogs aren't usually found quickly after incidents like this. With the mass hysteria that comes from flooding, many are too distracted by the devastation to aid helpless animals that are displaced.
But thanks to some incredible people at a vet clinic, Jericho made it. He was a little worse for the wear, missing fur and limping, but his tail still wagged.
In the video below, Tia, the leader of the Pit Bulls & Parolees crew, has the honor of reuniting Jericho with his owner. Despite his rough time, Jericho immediately perks up when he realizes whom he is seeing after all this time.
If you are so happy to see this dog reunited with his owner, you will also love this video of a dog being saved from icy waters after falling in.
