  • The number of private schools in 2009–10 was 33,366 and the number of private schools in 2019–20 was 30,492.
  • There were a total of 70,142 public prekindergarten, elementary, and middle schools in 2009–10 and a total of 70,055 public prekindergarten, elementary, and middle schools in 2020–21.
  • There were a total of 21,611 private prekindergarten, elementary, and middle schools in 2009–10 and a total of 18,870 private prekindergarten, elementary, and middle schools in 2019–20.
