Summary

[edit]
DescriptionForrest Gump's bench (2669659898).jpg English: Bench from the film en:Forrest Gump in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

Adapted from a bench located in Savannah's Forsyth Park, the benches used in filming the motion picture Forrest Gump were props. They were cast, like this bench, in fyberglass - with concrete legs - to make them lighter and easier to remove and store when not in use. This is one of several duplicate benches made from a single mold. This edition of the bench, cast from the same mold and in the same materials as all of those employed in the filming, is a gift to the City of Savannah from Paramount Pictures Corporation.

Many motion pictures have been filmed in Savannah, and the success of recent ones sucha s Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, had a noticeable impact on the tourism industry. This bench serves as a symbol of that powerful effect.
