2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament final stage
After winning their Final Four games, No. 1 Kansas will face No. 8 North Carolina in the national championship game.
No. 2 Villanova was defeated by Kansas in a dominant double-digit win. North Carolina upset No. 2 Duke in what was also Mike Krzyzewski's final game as head coach of the Blue Devils.
The Jayhawks and Tar Heels will now compete for the national championship. Kansas is vying for its fourth title, while North Carolina is vying for its seventh.
North Carolina vs Kansas Predictions
The national championship game between No. 1 seed Kansas and No. 8 seed North Carolina on Monday is a showdown between two of college basketball's all-time greats. The Jayhawks and Tar Heels have a combined nine national championships and are members of the sport's elite class known as the blue bloods.
Former Kansas coach James Naismith is considered one of the game's founding fathers, and a legendary coaching staff has cycled through both programs since Naismith's tenure with the Jayhawks ended over a century ago. The historical significance of two schools meeting in the national championship is obvious, and it serves as an excellent backdrop for what will take place on the court inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Monday night.
However, when the ball is tipped, the history and lore of previous decades will be irrelevant. All of the previous year's heroes will be unable to assist the Tar Heels or Jayhawks on Monday night. Instead, players like Dajuan Harris and Leaky Black will be vying for a place in college basketball history. Kansas is the favorite to win the match.
