Fire crews have stopped the forward rate of spread on a brush fire that broke out near Hesperia on Monday, according to officials.

The fire was holding at 95 acres and was 50% contained around 9:30 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District. The blaze, which started near Highway 173 and Highway 138, destroyed one outbuilding.

Firefighters were slated to stay on the scene overnight and into Tuesday, officials said. Highway 173 remained closed Monday night east of Highway 138.
