Default Floor prevents view to downstairs? Hope someone has some advice for this. I don't like that individual floor tiles can't be deleted. I usually like expand the open area around staircases in the upstairs of my houses. So, you can look down into the foyer from upstairs (like a two-story foyer). So instead of the three or four tiles the game leaves open for the stairwell, I like to expand the open tiles out further. Because individual tiles can't be deleted, I'm not able to do this. Am I doing something wrong? If not, can someone create some "clear" floor tiles Also, is there a cheat like "moveobjects on" yet? Thanks for your help! Ugh, glad I'm not the only one. Why would they take out the CRTL functionality that lets us delete individual wallcoverings/floor tiles? dedreav0531 Field Researcher #4 Old 11th Sep 2014 at 11:29 PM

I actually figured out how to manage this yesterday, took me forever, but when I realized what little thing I had to do I felt dumb. I you need to do is make the walls around what you want to have flooring and then make a roof that goes over the floored area and open area. Then add the walls around the open area. Hope this helps, I'm horrible at explaining, sorry. Basically all you have to do is add a roof before you connect walls. Pesh Test Subject Original Poster #5 Old 11th Sep 2014 at 11:37 PM

I just realized a way that might be easier...I built a room in the shape where I want there to be no floor. Then deleted that floor. Then deleted those walls. However, doing this made some of the roof come into my house for some reason. Having multi-level roofs in this game is tricky. You need to plan a bit. If you like a hallway with 2 floors high, make rooms around the room using the square room tool, not just walls. Then you can delete the floors in the hallway room. The same applies to roofs. It has to be rooms and sometimes when you put the top roof on the game reads it as inside and in a room. It's all room based in this game. If the game thinks you bulldozed the room, it's suddenly outside it puts the roofs back. I made this room with smooth light evenly distributed with a bit of planning. OK, that's a simple guide that I have just cooked up: (click on the images to get a better view) 1: Base example building 2: Create room on the second floor where you want "high" hallway on the ground floor. 3: Delete the floor in the 2nd floor room. 4: After removing the floor you can get rid of walls that you don't want. For me that restores the floor for some reason. 5: Game "remembers" that there was a room, and treats the floor there as a separate room, so you can just delete it again. 6: Dude, where is my roof? 7: Use "Flat Square" on the roof level to cover the messy hole. 8: Voila! EDIT: Fixed images links. EDIT2: An example of my "almost" finished house: "A man may fight for many things: his country, his principles, his friends, the glistening tear on a cheek of a golden child... But personally I would mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn." - Blackadder the Third trench Test Subject #8 Old 12th Sep 2014 at 7:43 AM

I don't think that this was mentioned here before: If you create, for example, a square room with 4 walls, floor and roof, you can just select the room and click on any of these parts. The game should pop up a window which has the option to delete the part of the room. So you can delete the whole floor, ceiling or any of the walls. Deleting single floor tiles this way is easy: You just need to surround the area you want to delete with walls or fences, select the created room and click on the floor and remove it. I give you that this is more complicated and frustrating than simply ctrl-clicking to remove the floors, but at least it works. Simsica Scholar #9 Old 12th Sep 2014 at 8:40 AM

Oh my God... And I thought TS3 had a shoddy building mode. Easier building in this one, no doubt! This is simply amazing - the more I read about the tiny specific details about how this game works, the less I want to even try it out. There's a need for a tutorial to delete floor tiles? Thanks for the info, though! Informed cat is informed. The best thing about a good thing is that it inspires a better thing. ♥ Receptacle Refugee ♥ Volvenom dodgy builder #10 Old 12th Sep 2014 at 10:43 AM

You wouldn't believe all the tutorials I and several others made for TS3, this game may have infinate possibilites, someone just have to find them first. I won't be me though, I'm back to cast in TS3. Every time I see something that makes me want to at least try the game out I see something like this that makes me regret it instantly. Back to top
