Is Shounen Jump better now or back in the days of the big 3 (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece)?Better nowBetter back thenAbout the sameNo opinionVote ResultSee Old PollsUser Comments [ Order by usefulness ]user avatarSpecial  by Yoneko13 years agoRating: 10.0  / 10.0

This is the mangaka that has made me cry the most, cause her characters are emotionally messed up and have unique personalities and her stories are very realistic and special. This manga is so good. I always end up with a weird feeling but it's all good.

I personally wanted a different ending couple, but from the beginning its kinda a given who the ending couple will be... I liked how in the end all three actually loved each other but two of them just loved each other more and the fact that all three were friends in the end, and how no matter what happened they all cared for each other... I liked the childish bickering too 🙂

My favorite character was definitely Nanno-san, i think i like his personality the most...

The characters were beutifully drawn, but i think that Ryou was a little too plain

I don’t understand any of this reviews, because I disagree with everybody else here. I get the deepness people commented in here, but I just don’t agree. And that’s the risk with love triangles, that you can disagree with the author’s choice and that alone f*cks things up for you. And that’s why I have to say I don’t like this.

First thought: WOW! The art is so pretty!

But I don’t like any of the characters except for Nanno. That’s not necessarily bad, it’s just a statement; they are well developed, I just don’t like them. Both Makoto and Ryou are pathetic in their own ways. I really get turned off when the seme is someone else’s uke, which seems to be Makoto’s case…He is sensei’s uke. And he’s not the playboy that makes us see him as sexy and desirable. He’s the spoiled one who keeps feeling sorry for himself and does nothing to change. Ryou at first just irritated me for being too plain, so I didn’t get the fuss over him. Even though I get that he was confused, he seemed dumb, like he could be played around by anybody who tried, be it Makoto or Nanno and a third guy if there ever was one. But at some point he really pissed me off. He slept with Nanno and then started getting jealous of him because Makoto still cared for him as a friend?! Then all that talk about “oh, Makoto-san, but you have to think about Nanno-san’s feelings too” was just lies?! How can Makoto say, later on, that Ryou is “considerate to others”?! I began hating him. Nanno, though, I like, even though most people probably hate him. I like well-constructed characters, even if they’re an obstacle to the main couple, and he’s such. He’s really smart. Since he can’t have Makoto, he turns Ryou’s life into a mess to make things difficult for Makoto. Maybe he didn’t even knew Makoto liked Ryou too, but he made sure to complicate things between them, getting involved the only way he could, which was through the weaker link, Ryou. Also, I feel sorry for him, so I sympathize with him. Oh, and I LOVE Harii-san! He’s so funny!

What I did like about this was the pace. The timing is very good, as time goes by slowly, the way it’s supposed to. They spend a long time on this game, not just a week like some manga out there. I also like how realistic this manga is at parts – and notice the at parts. Ryou actually cares about what being gay might mean to him or to the world, differing from most mangas out there. I like that they solve the problems like mature, grown up man, like it should be. That’s a step closer to reality, too. And they actually manage to stay friends.

But I have to say I didn’t like it, over all. And not because of the construction. It’s actually really good. I just liked Makoto x Nanno better than Makoto x Ryou, which isn’t much of a positive thing, when the main character is Ryou. I just think Nanno’s story is so much cutter… A story generally only has effect when something changes from the point where it begins to the point where it ends. The problem with this one is that Ryou came and screw things. Yes, maybe Makoto never would’ve realized Nanno loved him and that he loved Nanno back, but then again, it was too late to realize it anyway, the way it went. Ryou was the cause of a sad ending to what could’ve been a beautiful, mutual-loving relationship. And Nanno didn’t even get a proper ending, since I hate how he kinda ended up with the painter.

Like the posts above mine, this is a very realistic, loving, and engorging story. I loved the dj "Flower Children" since it showed reality like it is, and that there is a huge possibility that all relationships can come to end one day-unlike so many other cliched yaois. This is an amazing manga, and I hugely reccommend this to everyone-yaoi fans or no.

I love how Miyamoto Kano's characters seem so... real. They do have their faults and aren't as stereotypical like in many other yaoi manga. The funny thing about this story is that every one of those three characters seems to be messed up in some kind of way. Like MightyMaeve said above me, Ryou is innocent but thoughtful (and no wonder he gets his doubts with the way Makoto behaves), Makoto is kind of sex-addicted and a playboy and Nanno... Nanno was my favorite. He reminded me of Tooru (from Lovers and Souls and Rules); he's beautiful, self-destructive and does love someone deeply, but he doesn't really want to realize it himself.

What a touching, heart-felt and beautiful story!

Ryou learns about his complicated feelings of love, friendship and sexual desire through two very different people: Makoto and Nanno. Ryou's thoughtfulness and innocence, Nanno's deep hurt and 'hidden' love but good heart and Makoto's self-centered, aesthetic-loving but upfront and open personality melded together into a poignantly illustrated story. The story was written with delicacy, cleverness and a deep understanding of humanity.

The concept of what true friendship involves was explored with a wise, comprehensive understanding and was told at a captivating pace. Friends hurt one another, but it doesn't mean that they stop caring for one another and being in one another's lives.

The flower tie in seemed like an afterthought, but it didn't hurt the story none!
