Why does i3 itself and the terminal (terminator) look so strange and is there a way to fix it?

I only installed ttf-mac-fonts yet and could add some more if necessary.

Have you set a font in your ~/.i3/config ? my configuration file for example is:

font pango:DejaVu 11

It requires ttf-dejavu of course ;)

But this will only set's a font for window headings and i3bar

If you are searching for a fancy looking window manager you should look out for something else. Maby Ubuntu.

Desktop environments sometimes by default set font settings such as antialiasing. Since you’re using Arch Linux, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/...
