World NewsFoo Fighters singer Dave Grohl trolls Westboro Baptist Church with Bee Gees covers
Sun 08 Aug 2021by Premier Journalist
Dave Grohl, the lead singer for the rock band Foo Fighters, went viral last week when he approached a Westboro Baptist Church protest while playing disco music.
The Foo Fighters have been hosting a national tour for several weeks that has featured an assortment of events. Last week, the band attracted the Westboro Baptist Church. The extremely fundamentalist religious group decided to protest the concert by standing outside the Azura Ampitheater with signs stating phrases like "No Peace for the Wicked," "Free Will is a Satanic Lie," and "God Hates Your Idols."
The Foo Fighters decided to approach the protest riding a flatbed truck while also dressed as the "Dee Gees," a new gimmick that the band had incorporated into the tour recently. The band then began to play their take on "You Should be Dancing.""

“Ladies and gentlemen, I got something to say,” Grohl told the protesters while the Bee Gees played in the background. “Because you know what? I love you! I do. The way I look at it, I love everybody. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? Can’t you just love everybody? Because I think it’s about love. That’s what I think. I deliver all of my love, and you shouldn’t be hating. You know what you should be doing? You should be dancing!”
The Foo Fighters had previously introduced the Dee Gees as an alter ego persona for the band, complete with their own cover album, labeled Hail Satin.
Grohl has had a history with Westboro, as the group has protested concerts in the past. In 2011, Grohl combated a Westboro protest with a similar performance on a flatbed truck. In 2015, the band also Rickrolled the protesters.
