If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our editorial policy. Fortnite is under alien attack in Season 7, and anyone could be the enemy. Just to be sure, here's the location of body scanners.

Step onto a body scanner is the second step of Week 2's legendary quests in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7.

Alongside the task to interact with a dead drop in Weeping Woods, you'll have to find a body scanner to confirm that you're not an alien, as you can never be too sure.

Finding a body scanner and activating will reward you with 30k XP - which is helpful for unlocking new Season 7 Battle Pass skins and other extraplanetary cosmetics.

Body scanner locations in Fortnite explained

First of all, it's worth mentioning that you only need to find and use one body scanner to complete the challenge. That being said, there are seven different locations across the battle royale map, and all of them are tied to the new IO bases.

Most of them are close to named locations, but others are rather far from your usual landing spots. You can spot them from afar thanks to the red light that comes from the satellite beacon.

At IO bases you'll also encounter IO guards and IO Tech Weapons, which are not only deadly, but useful for later quest steps in the Week 2 Legendary questline.

The tricky part is that body scanners aren't exactly noticeable at first glance. You may be tempted to look for them inside the bases themselves, but they're actually found inside outposts in the open. As soon as you see one with a computer desk, that's where you'll find the body scanner, usually on the same floor or room as said empty desk.

In order to activate the scanner, all you have to do is step on it, and the challenge will be over.

There are several spots where you can complete this challenge, which is a welcoming change of pace, but some are fairly close to popular named locations where other players usually land on as well.

In our experience, we thought that going for the most remote location possible would be the safest bet. In this particular case that's the IO base southeast of Misty Meadows.

The location is found on the southern edge of the map, and there is even a massive mountain which you can use as cover while descending with your glider.

As soon as you set foot on the ground, you will see the base and a few places outside. The spot you want is the small square-shaped outpost that is down the road on the opposite direction of the base.

Once you get inside you'll notice a blue scanner on the floor in the left corner - step on it for a second or two and the challenge pop-up will appear on screen.

Remember that in case you happen to land somewhere else, you can complete the challenge at any other body scanner across the map - just beware of encountering other players who had the same idea as you!
