Fortnite Downtime: When Will Servers Be Back Up For Season 4?

Whenever you're struggling to get into Fortnite, there's a strong chance that the servers are down.

This could be due to an unforeseen issue, or it could be scheduled server downtime for planned patches and updates.

Today (Friday 21st February 2025), Fortnite fans knew to expect some downtime.

This is because the new season is launching — that's Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2, if you've lost count! — which will bring major changes to the map, battle pass and more later today.

As ever, this update doesn't just affect Battle Royale, with LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, Fortnite Creative, Rocket Racing and the Item Shop expected to go down as well.

When Fortnite is down, the game's whole ecosystem grinds to a halt and you might want to find something else to do for a few hours. Keep on reading to learn more!

Is Fortnite down? Scheduled maintenance news

Yes, Fortnite is currently down.

At around 7am GMT this morning, from a UK time zone perspective, the game went offline for some planned maintenance.

This was confirmed with the social media post below, which also included a video to tease what's coming in the update.

When will Fortnite servers come back online?

The official Epic Games website says that today's downtime is scheduled to end at 12 midday GMT, so we'd hope to be jumping back into the game at that time.

All being well, then, you should be able to check out the new season content from lunchtime today onwards.

However, these things do sometimes take longer than expected, so you might want to have alternative plans in mind if there are delays!

How to check Fortnite server status

Whenever you're unsure as to whether Fortnite is online, there are three main places you should check to see what the Fortnite server status is looking like.

• The official Fortnite Status Twitter account will keep you posted with official updates from the developers.
• Also, the Epic Games website will give you a quick way to look at the official status of all of Epic's services.
• Plus, take a look at Down Detector and you'll see if any other players are currently experiencing difficulties.
