I feel like people just follow a bandwagon of hating anime just because it is popular to. I guarantee that most of these types of people have never actually seen a single episode of any anime in their lives. For those who genuinely dislike anime and have at least tried to watch some, could you list some reasons why as it will provide a nice contrast to the unreasonable hate? I personally think Japanese storytelling is amazing and is severely underrated because of this awful stigma surrounding it. Most of my favourite stories from shows are actually anime series'. Even Pokemon and Beyblade. These are the only 4 anime I've watched, and I'm as normal as it gets. I don't see why watching anime creates any problems. That particular art style started out as a cheap alternative for cartoons and because it became popular they really aren't making any improvements to it because if its not broke why fix it. I would much rather watch any other style of animation or live action film/show besides this. I am not saying that anime shows can't have a good story or that they can't be good its just that I really do not care for the way that its animated. I don't think they portray emotion very well, to the point that a lot of them are putting a symbol next to the face that they are making because they look so similar from mad, yelling, crying and laughing. Next, there is so much yelling. OMFG stop. Look up any anime fight scene good or bad, its practically ear rape with a bunch of colors. The girl characters are always super fucking whiny and I can't stand to listen to that shit. Also there is the whole weeb/japanophile obsessions that people develop to the point that anime is their personality. There is also just a ton of weird anime that just allows people to attempt to normalize their twisted fetishes. Tons of pedo baiting and other weird shit. Idk man all I'm saying is if you take the story and put it with any other medium I would likely enjoy it more. I guess art styles are subjective, and if you prefers others then that's absolutely fine. I'm not sure about the portraying emotion part, as I seem see the difference quite easily. I think the symbols are more just for a comic strip effect thingy. There was some "Underrated animes" thread the other day where I pointed out the reasons why they were not that underrated and was being as reasonable as possible, and he said I was low iq and should see a psychologist.
