Forza Horizon 3 will reach "end of life" status in September, Microsoft has announced, at which point the acclaimed Xbox One and PC racer will no longer be available for sale.

Forza Horizon 3 debuted to rapturous applause back in 2016, successfully managing to secure an Essential review badge on this very site. Eurogamer's Oli Welsh even went as far as to call it "quite simply, the best racing game around" at the time.

All good things must, apparently, come to an end however, and Microsoft will be withdrawing Forza Horizon 3 from sale - alongside all its assorting DLC - on 27th September.

It won't be vanishing into the ether completely, though; in its announcement post on the official Forza forum, the publisher confirmed owners will still be able to download and play the game, as well as all associated content, after its removal from stores.

Those suddenly spurred into a purchase following the news of Forza Horizon 3's imminent delisting can take advantage of a hefty discount on the Microsoft Store until 27th September. There's currently 67% off the Standard Edition, meaning you can pick it up for £6.59, while the Ultimate Edition is 70% off at £17.99. The expansion pass is similarly discounted at £8.77.
