FOX 2 Detroit Anchor Maurielle Lue Hospitalized With COVID-19

DETROIT - Michigan news anchor, Maurielle Lue, has been hospitalized for nearly a week as she continues to battle COVID-19. One of the anchors of “The Nine” on FOX 2 News morning, a tearful Lue just updated her social media followers from her hospital bed. UPDATE: FOX 2′s Maurielle Lue home following week in hospital with COVID: ‘Most difficult illness I’ve ever faced’

Lue said live on her Instagram page this evening that she went to the hospital last Sunday, March 28, the day after her 36th birthday and one day after she did her last social media video sharing her battle.

At that time last week, she was having trouble breathing and said she had not eaten in nearly a week because she couldn’t breathe to chew. She says once her breathing finally improved, other symptoms hit her hard.

“For the first time in a week I can breathe clearly. It is a miracle. However the celebration was short lived,” Lue wrote on her Twitter page on Monday. “I spent today with a debilitating fever and headache. I was not able to get out of bed today. Odd the fever waited until now.”

While updating her condition this evening, Lue said she could not get out of bed for days and is thankful for people who sent her food and who gave her so many messages and advice to help her get through this.

“I just wanted to thank everyone who has shown me love,” Lue told viewers via Instagram live while wiping away tears. “I am feeling better. I want to thank you guys for the well wishes, love and support. This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. The staff and the nurses have been great.”

Lue, who has been anchoring from home, says she doesn’t know how she caught COVID. She says she stayed home nearly every single day the last year, but went to a car dealership to turn in her car lease last month and then she went out with some friends on Friday “and by Saturday, I was down.”

Lue says she is hopeful to get out of the hospital soon, but doesn’t know yet when that might happen.

“I don’t know how much longer I’ll have it. They don’t know. It’s crazy and scary. I’m hurting. I just wanted to thank you for the love. I value you. We have to look out for each other and be better to each other. We have to be polite and be kind.”
