So Good I made the effort to write a review

This app has everything you need in a simple user friendly format. I’ve had other tv apps. At one point I had a few apps depending on what I wanted to find out. A lot of those had ads and were a bit “buggy”. Then along came this Freeview app. Everything is laid out in a clear format which I can change dependent on my taste or needs. There are no ads!!! That’s right No ads and the app is still free with no hidden in-app purchase requirements to access app features. Yes, finally an app that is genuinely free, with no ads and no extra fee for app features. I know I’m repeating myself. I’m just clarifying what I’ve said as I’m sure you will read what I’ve written and then go back and re-read it with disbelief! The helpful feature’s such as just showing your favourite channels and cutting out the “trash channels” is easy to set up and activate or de-activate that a 3 year old could do it with a simple double tap. Then there’s the sport and movie features which you can activate to identify these types of shows easily. There are a few other features which make this app easy to use and view. I love the little reminders that my program will start. It is helping me to actually watch programs that I’ve said “oh that looks good”, rather than they just being something I’ve thought I would watch. Or it’s helped me to make a choice on my viewing, where it identifies what I can view on demand later. I’m not going to list every single feature on this app. I’m just saying there are more and they all add to your viewing experience and you don’t have to pay a penny to use any of them. This is an app I use daily and would find it difficult to live without now. Ten out of ten for features, layout, ease of use, need of use and for being genuinely free. Freeview indeed!🤩
Developer Response Hi Kirst73,Thanks so much for the positive feedback. We're really pleased to hear you're enjoying our app.Best,Freeview

Had all the other TV guide apps that started out good a few years back, when banner ads were all we had and a one off 59p fee usually rid you of those, then they started to change bringing in IAPs & subscriptions for a poor buggy service that will crash when you look at certain channels (etc) so one by one I stopped using them all - either using the what’s on now section in sky’s app or the tv’s on screen guide. I saw this so I thought I’d try it out,i was expecting more of the same bugs above but found a very clean and simple app that hasn’t crashed or left me wondering what’s on. It’s easy to use,tap twice to add a channel to favourites for a quick view of what on those channels, and then the usual grid view or list view & now & next etc. Almost like it’s info is beamed from your tv - Finally a simple guide app that is clear and easy to use,a little one or the elderly will have no trouble using it.
Developer Response Thanks so much for the in-depth review. Great to hear you find our app accessible and easy to use. Best, Freeview

Updated review following the developer response... Freeview uses app switching (deep linking to other apps) to play content to “provide the best experience and provide programming partners the opportunity to show new content”All I can say is - read the reviews. It’s obvious this approach is not working and doubtful its driven by customer experience but the commercial interests of your shareholders (the big content providers). Please please push back on this - you have a potential home run of a product on your hands especially on platforms like Apple TV if you can provide a viable competitor to TVPlayer. Once you have a sizeable / engaged audience there will be future opportunities to satisfy the commercial needs of your content partners and share holders. Good luck!I downloaded the new app anticipating a decent competitor to TVPlayer - finally all my live TV in an app that works! But instead of a highly integrated experience playing content natively in the app, you’ve decided on an app switching approach. In terms of experience this is a missed opportunity please consider or provide choice in settings: switch to app or play natively (I understand you have the rights). Finally you’ve done the work to build this for iOS but not implemented on AppleTV which given this is a TV content app is another huge missed. I suspect this is due to the app switching approaching. Please reconsider your approach! TVPlayer is getting worse and worse - as somebody who has “cut the cord” and relies on AppleTV, TVPlayer need some stiff competition.
Developer Response Hi there,Thanks for your comments, in order to give our viewers the best playback experience, and to give programme providers the opportunity to offer you more viewing options we link to the programme provider’s own players. We’ve aimed to make the experience as simple and easy as possible. In terms of an Apple TV app, it’s something we’re looking in to, but we wanted to launch this iOS app first, watch this space! Thanks!

Yet another rubbish update

Submitted the review below and got a response for the developer the following day confirming an update with a fix. Very impressive response. The review below was submitted over a year ago but Freeview then managed to greatly improve. Unfortunately they have slipped back in to mediocrity and this all applies again now. This now runs fast and seamlessly but is distinctly lacking on information. About 90% of the programmes listed in the guide have no information about them attached when you click on the programme to go up a level for more details. This is all well and good when you are looking at a TV series and have a pretty good idea of what to expect but is about as much use as men’s t*ts when you are looking at say Film4 with the title of a movie given and absolutely nothing else. Give your heads a shake for gawds sake.
Developer Response Hi Issed Pof, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know of this issue, our Dev team have put out a fix today in version 4.4.9 which will restore the programme information. We hope this allows you to continue enjoying our app.
