Freshly squeezed homemade orange juice is rich in vitamin C and good for your health, but it doesn't stay good for long. In very rare cases, unpasteurized juice can become contaminated with E. coli and other dangerous pathogens. Refrigerate juice for the right amount of time so it stays as tasty as the real thing.

Keep it Fresh

Freshly squeezed orange juice will stay fresh in the refrigerator for two to three days in a clean, tightly sealed bottle or jar. Keep it in the freezer for three to four months; freeze it in ice cube trays, then transfer the cubes to a zip-top bag. Defrost the cubes at room temperature or enjoy them as a frozen treat. Before you squeeze the juice from oranges, sanitize all of the parts of your juicer to ensure that the juice is fresh and safe. Wash them in the dishwasher or in hot, soapy water. Rinse then dip them in a sanitizing solution of 1 tablespoon of bleach in 1 gallon of water.
