Maybe your like
These Fried Mushrooms are the ultimate comfort food that is wonderfully coated in a batter from flour, breadcrumbs, coconut milk. Fried to crispy perfection this is an instant hit, a versatile appetizer, dinner, lunch – everything you can think of and naturally vegan.

Mushroom recipes are fantastic. I like them because you can make a lot of different dishes with them.
Like this Broccoli Casserole, the Tetrazzini, my Zucchini Lasagna, or the Mushroom Risotto.
Now I bring you another amazing recipe, that is so versatile, it is perfect for every occasion of the day. The Fried Mushrooms are even awesome as party food, just like my Toasted Ravioli, Potato Cakes, or the Cauliflower Wings.

Why these are the best Fried Mushrooms
Simply these Fried Mushrooms are made with the crispiest texture that you can have. My trick is to use flour and breadcrumbs here, that I think makes all the difference.
Seasonings is what makes these mushrooms so good. So I added onion and garlic powder to the mixture and voila these are spot on.

Coconut milk for me is an ingredient that I always come back to, like in this Bang Bang Cauliflower because it adds richness which makes everything even more delicious.
Step by step pictures make sure you get the most amazing result. I’ll share everything with you, the coating, the frying and the crispy perfection, yum.

What you need for this Fried Mushrooms recipe
- Mushrooms
- Flour
- Panko breadcrumbs
- Coconut milk
- Oil
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder

How to make Fried Mushrooms
First clean your mushrooms, remove stems with a sharp knife. Carefully rub them dry (you can use a cloth or paper towel).
Give 1/2 cup flour into a large bowl (reserve remaining 1 cup for later) and add mushrooms. Mix until they are fully coated with the flour.
Next use another bowl and add remaining 1 cup flour, garlic powder, onion powder, coconut milk, and a good pinch salt and pepper. Mix with a spatula or wire whisk until it forms a soft batter. Give the mushrooms into this batter and coat them well.

Now add panko breadcrumbs to a bowl and shake the mushrooms in to have them fully covered.
Finally heat oil in a small pot. Give the mushrooms (about 6, depending on the size of the pot) into the hot oil and fry them until golden brown. It should take about 4 minutes to reach a crispy texture.
Serve hot on plates or in bowls. Don’t think about leftovers – these Fried Mushrooms should be always served hot and fresh from the pan.

Tips and tricks
Don’t step away from full fat coconut milk. Light or almond milk will work, but you won’t get that amazing result. I always make them with canned full fat coconut milk.
Make sure the oil is hot: if you are unsure about this, test with a breadcrumb. It should make a sizzle so you know the oil is really hot and that is what makes that crispiness.
Serve them hot, don’t use leftovers to keep refrigerated, or freeze them.
