Cremated. Gabriel's ashes are with family members. Contreras, Gabriel's uncle — who was called as the prosecution's final witness during its case-in-chief — said the decision to have the boy cremated after his death was made because he did not think anybody else should have to go through seeing the boy "like that." He was not buried and exhumed.

He is not buried in Mexico

Gabriel Daniel Fernandez departed this life on May. 24, 2013 at 13:38 PM, at the tender age of eight years at her home in Palmdale.

Gabriel was born Feb. 20, 2005 at 13:00 PM, in Palmdale, Los Angeles Country to Grandpa.

Murder Victim. Gabriel was tortured and murdered by his mother and her boyfriend.

Survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joined in heaven by his great-uncle, Michael Lemos "Mike" Carranza and grandmother, Sandra Lupe (Carranza) Fernandez.

Gabriel Fernandez's short life, brutal murder, and the public trials of his guardians and social workers were chronicled in the Netflix docuseries "Trials of Gabriel Fernandez."

strike out at little me?

Way up high, above the clouds,

through heavens golden doors. 

So, say a prayer for me

for the life I'll never know

I just wish you could have cared for me

for I would have loved you so
