Member Oct 25, 2017 11,448 I'm new to Gamestop kinda, but since Best Buy doesn't really seem like the best deal anymore I've decided to get Pro at Gamestop. I noticed that I can't pre-order games for pickup. This sucks and I'm not sure if there is a way around that. How is their shipping speed? Do they even get games to people day 1? :/Zornography
Member Oct 29, 2017 49 I would love if they did in store pickup for their preorders. The day they do that, I'll choose that option every time.Pikagreg
Member Feb 5, 2018 515 I think only big game releases have release day delivery. The last few things I pre-ordered online all came later in the week.Lotus

Avenger Oct 25, 2017 5,813 GameStop's online and fulfillment environment is far behind the competition, and has even retrograded in some aspects (ex. removal of wishlists and pick-up online orders in-store). Only thing I can give them is that the few times I've ordered online, everything was packed fairly well vs Best Buy where you're lucky to get a package suitable to what is being shipped, let alone a single piece of packing material to prevent damages. Member Oct 27, 2017 5,509 The last game I pre-ordered at GameStop (Lost Judgment) got to me on day one, as did the steelbook (they were shipped separately). It would definitely be a lot more convenient for us to be able to pre-order for store pickup online.Man God
Member Oct 25, 2017 42,537 Gamestop has...high shipping prices, awful warehouse to store fulfillment, poor customer service. They are so far behind Walmart/Target/Best Buy/Amazon that its not even funny. I regret any time I have to order something from them because its either exclusive or cheap enough to offset their shipping costs and hassle. They did for a brief period have very reasonable prices on old GBA/DS/GBC games though sold online.DrScruffleton
Member Oct 26, 2017 16,042 Their online preorders and whole system is extremely shitty. Its crazy how after all these years the online system and store system is so disjointed. Even when the only system says a store has something in stock, youll get there, its not on the shelf, and the employee will say yeah the online stock is always wrong. Like, ok. Why dont they ever fix it thenAfrikan
Member Oct 28, 2017 20,430 GEEZ! I knew I should have accepted cash instead of credit when I traded in my PS4Pro. 🤦🏾 Edit- I think the difference was like $20-$50 I forget, figured I'd use the $300credit for a PSVR2 pre-order.Ashes of Dreams

Member May 22, 2020 21,957 I'm not really sure what you're asking about. You can pre-order in a store and then come back to pick up that pre-order on release day. You can pre-order on the website and have it delivered to your house, though it may not get to you on release day. You can do pick up in store options for an in-stock item on the website and then drive to that store and pick up the product.matrixman92 said: Their online preorders and whole system is extremely shitty. The numbers would be fixed whenever they do inventory at certain points of the year and go through and take count of every item in the store.

Member Oct 26, 2017 9,789 I consider it worth it if you are going to do in store pickup, which is likely to be your best bet there for day 1 stuff/pre order bonuses unless you have a Best Buy nearby. They also do have decent packaging. Other places are cheaper and/or more reliable with their time frames regarding home delivery/online orders, and you can it it all online. There used to be a way to put a "hold" pre-order for a store on the website. I'm not sure when that was taken away. I think they mostly just want to get people going into the stores as much as possible. Though if you don't want to do that, you can try putting in a pick up in store request like the minute they open on launch day, but if they only have enough for pre-orders it might not work, so it's a gamble. The Pro Membership you signed up for is really for people who like going to the store more often, which is also where they want you doing the pre-orders (each store has their own numbers to hit and competes against each other).

Member Oct 28, 2017 2,629 My go-to move lately is unless I'm trying to get a collector's edition, I just place an order the day of release and pick the option to basically door dash it to my apartment. Availability of that probably depends on your area though, but it's convenient.Liam Allen-Miller

Click to shrink...Hmm, I can't imagine the system is too different over there but pre-orders need to have money down here. The minimum is $5. Of course the more you know the people there the more the store workers might find work-arounds to help you out, like having a big preorder with money on it that you can pull $5 from when something comes out and tricks like that.

I ordered a game for Christmas, realized I ordered the wrong one (preowned vs new), tried to cancel it because, you know, it needed to be cancelled, and was told that I had to call their customer support to cancel it. Calling them did nothing because they didn't seem to know anything about the order process, telling me that the order couldn't be cancelled until it was finished processing. So then I let it finish processing, called them back and they said they'd try to cancel the shipping step but there was still a chance it would ship. Mind you this is a week after I literally tried to immediately cancel an order. Then I get a shipment notification so I'm just like wtf is going on here. Call them again and they're like, oh we can cancel the order through our shipping service and reroute it back. And then the game is delivered to my door a week later. Awful from start to finish.

Click to shrink...Going through a similar thing right now myself Ordered a game thinking I'd get it this past Monday or so, with the shipping telling me as much, only to be hit with a June 8-10 delivery date, which would take way too long I try to cancel it before it ships, but I was too late (just my luck since the game took like 3 days just to ship in the first place), and now it's this whole struggle to get it rerouted back as well, which should've happened by now. And I just know it's going to end up being shipped to me in the end, sigh

If you just ask here (I've seen this at multiple stores) they'll let you preorder for free (or indeed any amount you want).

Definitely the opposite of the USA stores, unfortunately. The system won't allow a pre-order for less than $5. The only way to get around that used to be exactly what OP is asking for, if you pre-ordered on the website for an in-store pickup it wouldn't charge you and it'd be a $0 pre-order in the system. Probably why they took that feature away (people were less likely to pick those up and it'd hurt the store's numbers).
