Gem-Bird Puzzle Guide - Stardew Valley - Hold To Reset

The Stardew Valley Gem Bird puzzle is a Golden Walnut challenge players can solve on Ginger Island. This puzzle involves finding four special gem birds, collecting their gems, and then placing them onto four statues in the jungle. If this puzzle is confusing you, you’ve come to the right place! Where are the Gem Bird Pedestals on Ginger Island

To understand the Gem Bird puzzle you should first visit a special area with a shrine and four pedestals on Ginger Island. This area is found by going deeper into the Jungle by Leo’s hut.

To reach it go to outside Leo’s Hut. Instead of heading inside go east through the gap in the foliage, as shown in the screenshot above, to enter a new area of the Jungle. In this new area located the shrine and pedestals.

Read the shrine to receive the following clue about how to solve the Gem Bird puzzle:

When dark clouds cry, begin your quest. To seek the fabled gem-birds four. Each day, one north, south, east, or west. Arrange their gifts upon my door.

How to Find the Gem Birds on Ginger Island

Every rainy day on Ginger Island, a Gem Bird randomly appears in the north, south, east, or west areas of the island. On these days, the player should visit Ginger Island to find the bird, scare it away by walking towards it, and pick up the gem it drops.

Upon picking up the gem, note what the gem is and where you picked it up. For example, “Ruby Gem – West.” This information will be useful later when turning in the gems.

On the island, there are five possible Gem Birds you can encounter that drop the five different types of gems:

• Red = Ruby
• Green = Emerald
• Blue = Aquamarine
• Yellow = Topaz
• Purple = Amethyst

Once you’ve picked up a gem in an area, that area is complete. You then need to wait for the next rainy day to return and search the other three areas for the next bird. Repeat this process until you have four gems from the island’s four different areas.

You can speed up this process by using a Rain Totem each time you are on Ginger Island to force it to rain the following day. This makes it possible to complete the puzzle in only a few days instead of waiting for rainy weather to occur naturally.

How to Place the Gem Bird Gems on Ginger Island

Once you have all four gems, return to the shrine and pedestals area in the Jungle. Make sure to have your list of gems and their corresponding locations ready.

The four pedestals in the Jungle are arranged like a compass. To solve the puzzle you must place the gems you found on the pedestal corresponding to the part of the island where you found them. Here’s what an example solution would look like:

• Ruby found in north goes on the top pedestal
• Emerald found in west goes on left pedestal
• Aquamarine found in south goes on bottom pedestal
• Amethyst found in east goes on right pedestal

Keep in mind that your puzzle solution will be different as it is randomized for each player. This example just provides some context as to how you place the gems you’ve found.

After solving the Gem Bird puzzle, you will receive 5 Golden Walnuts as a reward. Although Gem Birds will still spawn on rainy days on Ginger Island, the pedestals and shrine will no longer be usable.
