Fact: Genetic G6S Testing is Recommended for Nubian Goat Breeding Stock.
A defective G6S enzyme causes a lysosomal storage disorder, Caprine Mucopolysaccharideosis-IIID, in Nubian and Nubian-cross goats.
it is caused by a autosomal recessive genetic mutation and results in delayed development and early death. DNA testing can be done on EDTA whole blood, or hair roots, depending on the lab used.
