The wait is over! After its first-ever delay, Genshin Impact is finally releasing version 2.7 on 31 May.
Genshin Impact version 2.7’s update maintenance will begin at 6am SGT and is expected to last five hours.
Version 2.7 will have a duration of six weeks. The current extended banners will also end on 31 May.
The 2.7 update brings with it two new characters: Liyue’s 5-star Hydro bow character Yelan and Inazuma’s 4-star Electro sword user Kuki Shinobu.

The version 2.7 livestream will take place on 20 May, so get ready for the events, banners, and primogems!
Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse also released an expected update schedule for version 2.8, which is slated to release on 13 July.
The delay in Genshin Impact version 2.7's release notably saw the banners for Kamisato Ayaka and her signature weapon, the Mistsplitter Reforged, get extended while players were compensated with Primogems, Hero's Wit, and other rewards for every week of the delay.

Why was version 2.7 delayed?
HoYoverse did not explicitly state the reason behind the postponement of version 2.7's release.
China implemented lockdowns last month amid Omicron variant outbreaks in the mainland, with most of the cases being concentrated in the cities of Shanghai and Beijing as well as the neighbouring province of Jilin.
HoYoverse's parent brand, miHoYo, is notably headquartered in Shanghai, where citizens have struggled for food and other supplies due to the stringent lockdown.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementGenshin Impact players have previously speculated on how the lockdown has affected the game's developers due to the 'Spices from the West' event in version 2.6 being quietly scrapped and maintenance on the 'Serenitea Pot' feature beginning around the same time lockdowns began in Shanghai.
In mid-April, HoYoverse told Kotaku that it had closed its physical office in Shanghai and started providing supplies to employees, who had begun working from home.
