Early Life

George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on the 18th of May, 1952, in Texas.

His father owned a two-thousand-acre cattle ranch where the family worked on the weekends.

He attended Pearsall High school where he played in a rock and roll garage band.

Career

George Strait got his start in music with the Ace in the Hole Band and performing at honky-tonks across south and central Texas.

He quickly gained a regional following, and he released several singles via the independent label D Records, based in Houston.

However, he frequently traveled to Nashville in search of a record deal, and after multiple failures, considered giving up music.
