If you update to Messenger features on Instagram, you will have access to new messaging features. In chats with friends who use Facebook and Instagram, you will be able to:

6. Watch videos together

7. Swipe to reply to messages

8. Forward messages to Instagram accounts only

It can be noted that certain Messenger features on Instagram are not available in chats with more than two people.

How to update to Messenger Features on Instagram

Step 1:

You can update from Direct to Messenger features on the Instagram app by tapping direct in the top right, then tap Update. You can also:

Tap profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

Step 3:

Tap more options in the top right, then tap Settings.

Step 4:

Tap Update messaging, then tap Update.

Step 5:

If you see Messenger in the top right, you have updated to Messenger features on Instagram.

It can be noted that once you update to Instagram Messenger features, you will not be able to go back to using Direct.
