So have you heard that Living Coral is the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2019? Living Coral inhabits the shades of coral color that are stronger than pink but not as bright as red. And, the best bit?  Coral is such a versatile color that there are many other colors that go all with coral. Colors that look good with coral include neutrals, golds, pinks, blues and greens.

Living Coral is a color which is supposed to be embracing nature and optimism. Of course, it’s inspired by the actual coral reefs which are dying so that’s not exactly optimistic. Technicalities. I’m not a fan of the Living Coral color personally but then I didn’t like Ultraviolet, Pantone’s color for 2018. It reminds me of the Crayola crayon color ‘flesh’ which got renamed peach to be more politically correct. In 2022, the Pantone color is Very Peri and my favourite Crayola color as a child was periwinkle blue.

On the plus side, coral is definitely a more golden hue than Millennial Pink (which I heard referred to as vaginal pink for the first time in reference to India Mahdavi’s design for Sketch London). So yeah, I can’t look at millennial pink the same way again.
