Located in northwest Montana, getting to Glacier National Park is easy.

If you're traveling by plane, the closest airport is Glacier Park International in Kalispell, Montana. From Glacier Park International Airport, it's about a 40-minute drive to the west entrance of the park in West Glacier and a 2-hour drive to East Glacier Park. Car rental companies make it easy to pick up your rental car from the airport and make the scenic drive to the Crown of the Continent.

Amtrak's Empire Builder also runs through Montana's Hi-Line before making its way along the southern boundary of Glacier National Park. Running year-round, Amtrak makes stops near the park in Browning, East Glacier Park, Essex, West Glacier and Whitefish. (For the full schedule, visit amtrak.com.)

If you're traveling by car, U.S. Highway 2 is the main route for accessing Glacier National Park. Traveling through Montana's northern tier, U.S. Highway 2 connects West Glacier and East Glacier Park (about an hour's drive), while Route 89 provides access to the east side of Glacier National Park, including Browning, St. Mary and Babb.
