Getting started with your new PS5 console 

Find out how to set up your PlayStation®5 console for the first time, update the system software and connect to PlayStation™Network (PSN).

How to attach the PS5 console base or feet

First, check the model number of your PS5® console.

Select your model of PS5 console from the list below for instructions.

PS5 console (CFI-2000 model group - slim)

1. Place your console on a soft cloth spread over a flat surface. 
2. Insert the horizontal stand feet into the hole in the grooves of the PS5 console. Always attach the feet to your PS5 console before use.

• If you want to set your PS5 console in the vertical position, you’ll need to use the vertical stand (sold separately).

1. Place your console on a soft cloth spread over a flat surface. 
2. Insert the horizontal stand feet into the hole in the grooves of the PS5 Pro console. Always attach the feet to your PS5 Pro console before use.

• If you want to set your PS5 Pro console in the vertical position, you’ll need to use the vertical stand (sold separately).

Always attach the base to your PS5 console when setting it up for use. How you attach the base depends on how you want to place your PS5 console.

For the vertical position

1. Align the hook (A) and the groove on the base by rotating the top and bottom parts of the base in opposite directions. Keep rotating until you hear a "click".

1. Place the console with the rear side facing up, and then remove the cap from the screw hole.

1. Store the cap in the bottom of the base, and then remove the screw from the bottom of the base.

1. Attach the base, and then secure it with the screw using your hand. You can also use a coin to tighten the screw.

For the horizontal position

1. Unalign the hook (A) and the groove on the base by rotating the top and bottom parts of the base in opposite directions. Keep rotating until you hear a "click".

1. Place the console with the rear side facing up. Align the base with the marked area on the console, and press the base in firmly.

How to connect a PS5 console to a display

1. Insert one end of the included HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT port on the rear of the PS5 console. 
2. Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI input on your display device. 
3. Insert the included AC power cable into the AC IN connector on the rear of the PS5 console. 
4. Safely insert the AC power power plug into an electricity supply.

After turning on your PS5 console for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to:

• Connect your controller.
• Select your language.
• Set up your internet connection.
• Adjust display settings.
• Control power options for Rest Mode.
• Read and accept the user agreement.

How to connect a PS5 console to the internet

1. Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set up Internet Connection. 

2. Select your connection type and enter the network security information.

How to update PS5 console system software

If a system software update is required, you’ll see a notification to Update. To check for system software updates:

1. Go to Settings > System > System Software. 
2. Select System Software Update and Settings.

Here you can check your current system software version. Update Available appears if a newer version is available.

If you are having issues when downloading a system software update, you can manually update using an external drive and a computer.

How to connect a PS5 console to PSN 

Once your system software is up to date, you will be prompted to sign in to PlayStation™Network. You can use your existing account details to sign in or create a new account. If you have the PlayStation App downloaded and set up, you can sign in with your phone.

How to transfer games and data from a PS4 console or PS5 console

You can transfer data from to your PS5 console using data transfer, extended storage or Playstation®Plus cloud storage.

How to purchase games from PlayStation Store

1. From the Games home, select PlayStation Store.
2. Search for the game you would like to purchase and select the game card.
3. Select Buy > Confirm Purchase > Download.
4. You can find your purchases in Games home and the Game Library. 
5. Select the game and choose Play.

1. Insert the game disc. The game will install automatically. 

2. Select the game from your Games home to start playing.
