What Are Goats and What Do They Do in Minecraft

Goats at the moment don’t have any major purposes other than knocking players back and providing them with milk. They can often be found in the snow and depending on what verison of the game you’re playing will play a factor in goats dropping loot upon death.

Where to Find Goats

Goats often spawn in groups of two to three and can be found in snow biomes. Listed below are all the biomes goats are known to spawn in.

  • Frozen Peaks
  • Jagged Peaks
  • Snowy Slopes
To learn more about the different types of Biomes that are available to find across Minecraft, be sure to check out our Biomes guide for more details.

How to Breed a Goat

Before breeding a goat, make sure that you’ve built a secure animal farm that the goats can’t escape from.

To breed a Goat you’ll need some wheat. Luckily, getting wheat can be fairly simple. All you’ll need to do is plant seeds; you’ll be able to get seeds by breaking grass. Once the seed is planted it’ll grow into wheat.
