Goliath Groupers are absolutely huge fish. They are known to reach up to 800 pounds. Their size alone makes a goliath grouper attack a potential hazard for divers that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Goliath groupers are considered to be on of the largest fish in the sea bass family. They are not known for attacking humans, but they are known to eat whatever fits in their mouth. So, if you are diving near them be mindful of the possibilities.

The following what-if clip does a great job explaining some of the often overlooked abilities of groupers which includes the agility to suck nearby prey into its mouth. Although, the clip does go a bit far in its hyperbole of what would happen if a diver was actually caught up in a goliath grouper attack and ended up being swallowed.
