In one of our previous lesson we have already learned how to say hello in Russian and to ask how a person is doing. Today. we will learn the most common ways to say goodbye in Russian.

Farewell in Russian, as well as greetings, depend on who you are talking to. The phrases below are divided into three groups: for informal situations, for formal situations and good for both cases.

Russian informal goodbyes

The most simple and straightforward way to say informal goodbye in Russian is:

Пока́! [pa-ká] Bye!

However, you can be more creative and use one of the following phrases:

Счастли́во! [schees-lée-va] Good bye and good luck.

Уда́чи! [u-dá-chee] Good luck!

Уви́димся! [u-vée-deem-sya] See you!

До ско́рого! [da skó-ra-va] See you soon!

Russian formal goodbyes

Formal goodbye in Russian is:

До свида́ния! [da svee-dá-nee-ya] Good bye!

Всего́ хоро́шего! [vsee-vó ha-ró-shee-va] All the best!

Good for both cases

The following phrases you can use both in formal and informal situations:

До встре́чи! [da vstryé-chee] Untill next time!

До за́втра! [da závt-ra] See you tomorrow!

Мне пора́. [mnye pa-rá] I have to go.
