Gramin Dak Sevak Selection Process 2022

The Gramin Dak Sevak Jobs selection process does not include any written or online exams. The selection will be based only on the candidate’s Class 10 marks. Go through the points given below to learn about the GDS selection process:

The Gramin Dak Sevak Jobs selection process is based on the candidate’s marks in the Class 10 exam (Matriculation).
The marks scored by the candidate will be rounded off to the accuracy of 4 decimals to prepare the Gramin Dak Sevak merit list and get into the selection process of Gramin Dak Sevak.
There will be no weightage given to candidates having higher qualifications, past experience, and service knowledge. The selection will only be based on merit (marks in Class 10).
If two candidates have scored the same mark then the officials will follow the criteria as given below:
- The candidate older in age will be preferred.
- After that, preference will be given in the order of ST female, SC female, OBC female, EWS female, UR female, ST Male, SC Male, OBC male, EWS male, UR male.

Gramin Dak Sevak Eligibility Details

Candidates need to go through the GDS eligibility criteria before filling the GDS application process. The GDS eligibility details to know the correct information of the selection process for the Gramin Dak Sevak are given below:

Age Criteria: The candidate’s age must be between 18 to 40 years. However, there is a relaxation in the upper age limit for certain categories. The GDS age relaxation criteria for Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment 2022 selection process are as follows:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects. Candidates must have passed all the subjects from any recognised Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India.

Computer Knowledge: Candidates must have a basic knowledge of computers. Candidates need to produce a Basic Computer Training Course Certificate with a minimum period of 60 days. However, this can be relaxed if the candidate has studied Computers as a subject in Class 10, 12, or any higher educational level. In such a case, a separate certificate will not be insisted upon.

Knowledge of Local Language: Candidates must have studied the local language at least up to Class 10 as a compulsory or elective subject. Check the local languages list as per the present notification from the table below:

Gramin Dak Sevak Security Deposit

As per the GDS official notification, candidates selected for the post of Branch Post Master, Assistant Branch Post Master, and Dak Sevak will have to deposit the prescribed security deposit as set by India Post. The existing security amount is Rs. 1,00,000/- (1 Lakh Rupees).

GDS Selection Process 2022 Key Points

Some important points to note about GDS Selection Process are as under:

Candidates will have to pass Class 10 from a school recognised by the government. Also, he/ she must have passed as per the respective approved board norms.
Students having Grades/ Points system will have to convert their score into the marks system and the same is to be filled in the application form.
A candidate can apply for a maximum of 20 posts mentioning their order of preference on a single application form.
Candidates can apply for more than one circle (even in non-home circles) provided they meet the eligibility criteria. However, only one post will be allocated to the candidate in each circle if she/he has applied for one or more posts in each circle.

Q.1: What is the minimum percentage for GDS?Ans: The officials have not prescribed any criteria for a minimum percentage to be eligible for the GDS selection procedure.

Q.2: Is Gramin Dak Sevak a good job?Ans: Yes. All GDS working in India posts are central government jobs. A GDS will not get all the benefits of civil servants working in Central Government but will get maximum benefits as other central government jobs.

Q.3: Is there any written exam for the GDS post?Ans: No, there is no written exam for GDS selection and candidates are selected on the basis of marks scored in Class 10.

Q.4: Can GDS get a promotion?Ans: Yes. But they need to appear for a written examination. GDS should complete their 5-year minimum service for appearing for the promotional examination of GDS to Postal Assistant.

Q.5: Does a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) get pension?Ans: Yes, the All India Postal Employees Union has demanded a minimum statutory pension of Rs. 3500/- per month to GDS and all other retirement benefits like gratuity, etc., based on the same system that applies to the departmental employees.

Q.6: Is the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) job permanent or temporary?Ans: The appointment for the GDS posts is done for regular vacancies, hence these are permanent posts.

Q.7: What are the job responsibilities of a Gramin Dak Sevak?Ans: The Gramin Dak Sevak (Rural Postal Service) of the India Post Office is responsible for handling different jobs in the Postal department. They belong to different posts such as Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), Mail Deliverer, Mail Carrier, and Packer.
