This all-in-one online Grams to Atoms Calculator performs calculations using a formula that relates the mass of a substance in grams to the number of atoms (or molecules) in the substance and the molar mass of that substance. You can enter the values of any two parameters in the input fields of this calculator and find the missing parameter.
Substance mass (g): Molar mass (g/mol): Number of atoms:How to Convert Grams to Atoms
The number of atoms (or molecules) in a given sample of a substance can be found using the following formula:
Number of atoms = NA * Substance mass (g) / Molar mass (g/mol),where NA is the Avogadro constant.
The Avogadro constant NA = 6.02214076×1023 mol-1 is the number of particles that are contained in one mole of a substance.
The value of the Avogadro constant was specifically determined so that the mass of one mole of any chemical compound in grams is numerically equal to the average mass of one atom (or molecule) of the compound expressed in daltons (universal atomic mass units)
One dalton, by definition, is 1/12 the mass of one carbon-12 atom, which is approximately equal to the mass of one nucleon (proton or neutron).
Our Grams to Atoms Calculator, which can be used also as atoms to grams calculator, makes it easy to find the value of any of the three parameters in the above formula, provided the other two parameters are known.
