The Famous 3 Michelin star Chef Grant Achatz, born on the 25th of April year 1974, is an American chef and restaurateur, known as one of the leaders of molecular gastronomy or what we call progressive cuisine. The restaurant in Chicago named Alinea won a lot of awards. Some of them “Best Chef in the United States” back in 2008 and “Who’s Who Inductee” in the year 2012.

In the early stage of his culinary career that Grant Achatz has been spending his time working for his parents’ restaurant in Michigan, St. Clair, when he was a teen. This was followed by enrollment in the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Hyde Park. He graduated back in 1994. After some time, he started to work at  The French Laundry in California, Yountville, a celebrated restaurant of Thomas Keller. He has been working for four years at The French Laundry, where he reached the position called sous chef.

Moving on to 2001, Achatz moved to Chicago as an executive chef at Trio, Illinois, Evanston. Already when he arrived, the Mobil Travel Guide had rated the restaurant four stars. In 2005, Grant Achatz went on his own path and opened his restaurant called Alinea, which was in the Lincoln Park neighbourhood in Chicago, with his friend Nick Kokonas. And that is where everything starts.

Grant Achatz is very interested in experimental cooking. He wants other chefs to be creative with their cooking and put all their Heart and love into the food that they prepare.

Chef Grant Achatz - 3 Michelin stars

The famous restaurant called Alinea can be found up the block from a very renowned company called Steppenwolf Theatre. It is located in a very modest grey brick building. When you go inside there is no bar, no lobby, and can only 64 seat for the guests. It has this course menu which runs approximately 18 small courses. After just a year of operation, Alinea was given a Five Star award from Mobil Travel Guide, which makes the restaurant a big hit.
