This includes muscular dystrophy and epilepsy, and it was the medicine for the latter that caused her teeth to fall out. In the months after Gypsy and boyfriend Nick Godejohn murdered Gypsy's mother, it was concluded that her mother had likely been suffering from the mental disorder known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy, whereby a parent or caregiver applies an imaginary illness or injury to a person under his or her care, in Dee Dee's case her daughter.
