Learn more Open post by acsanational with ID 18098261527756801 Join us in congratulating ACSA faculty member Laura Kurgan (@kurganl) of Columbia GSAPP (@columbiagsapp) for being recognized by the 2026 National Design Awards! Presented by Cooper Hewitt, the National Design Awards celebrate excellence and leadership in design, recognizing the innovation and impact of individual designers and organizations across 10 categories. Kurgan was awarded for her work in spatial computation, data visualization, and digital cartography at the intersection of technology and social justice. From employing GPS as a design tool in the 1990s to leveraging declassified satellite imagery to map political conflicts, her projects help us to visualize systemic injustices, such as incarceration patterns and migration flow. Learn more about Laura Kurgan’s achievements at the #LinkInBio. Open post by acsanational with ID 18136485772501729 The ACSA Research + Scholarship Committee is excited to share op-eds written by members of the ACSA Academy for Public Scholarship on the Built Environment. Dive into articles that explore topics from opportunities to reimagine playgrounds as community spaces to elevating community voices to address climate issues at the local level. The published articles include: “Knoxville Parks and Recreation Master Plan: Let’s open schoolyards to all” – Knox News | written by Sarah Bolivar of the University of Tennessee (@utkcoad) “Voices: Detroit’s Climate Response Starts at the Grassroots Level” – Planet Detroit | written by Ceara O’Leary (@ceara313) of the University of Detroit Mercy (@detmercy_sacd) “Milwaukee Has Turned Toxic Legacy Into Civic Asset With River Cleanups” – Milwaukee Journal Sentinel | written by James Wasley of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (@uwm_sarup) Each article provides a platform for architecture faculty to share their expertise across local and nationwide audiences. Bookmark the #LinkInBio to stay tuned as new articles are published. #ACSA #PublicScholarship #BuiltEnvironment #TheOpEdProject #News #Article #ClimateChange #Advocacy #LocalNews Open post by acsanational with ID 17979474653969571 It's not too late to voice your opinion on architecture degrees. ACSA has collaborated with AIA (@aianational) to make advocacy simple and fast. We have created a one-click action button that allows you to enter your name and address and send a message to your legislators in just minutes. This tool will help spread the significance of federal student loan changes impacting architecture schools. Reach out to your members of Congress to ask them to support current and future architectural students at our #LinkInBio. #ACSA #ArchitecturalEducation #Advocacy #StudentLoans #ProfessionalDegrees #ArchitectureSchools Open post by acsanational with ID 18420166129188643 This Women’s History Month, the ACSA Research team invites you to explore “Where Are the Women? Measuring Progress on Gender in Architecture.” Like many professions in the United States, architecture has a long-standing history of being a male-dominated field. This research chronicles the need for greater representation of women in the discipline. However, it is important to note that this attention to representation and diversity is not the same as what is required to create an equitable future for women across the discipline. This research is only the beginning of a longer discussion. Not only do we need to attract more women to schools of architecture, but we need to support them when they get there, and continue supporting them as they engage the profession throughout their careers. Visit our #LinkInBio to read more. #ACSAResearch #WAMP #WhereAreMyPeople #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInArchitecture #Architecture #Statistics Open post by acsanational with ID 18381863926080225 Don’t miss tomorrow’s ACSA114 registration deadline (March 4)!
