Biology
Happiny without a stone in her pouch
Happiny is a small Pokémon that is shaped like an egg. It has a soft, smooth, light pink body. On top of its head is a curly outgrowth that resembles a ponytail, with a dark pink band around the base. The appearance of this curly growth of hair often annoys Happiny. It has three round bumps on its forehead and two pink circles on its cheeks. There is a pouch around the lower half of its body. The pouch is red with a white stripe around the top.
Happiny's pouch is rubbery and flexible, enabling the Happiny to put things into it with ease. As it cannot produce Eggs yet, it makes up for it by carrying something round and white in its pouch to imitate Chansey and Blissey, typically an Egg-shaped stone. Happiny highly treasures this stone. It may give this stone to people whom it likes, however, it can throw a tantrum and cry should the stone be taken from it or not returned to it. The object it decides to carry may be too large, stopping this Pokémon from moving. It has a habit of wandering around people's feet and causing them to stumble. Happiny enjoys playing with children, often playing a game of House with them. Happiny is shown to be extremely strong in the animated series, as one has been seen lifting heavy things above its head. Happiny is a female-only species with no male counterpart. As mentioned in Sleep Style Dex, Happiny has been observed sleeping while its egg-shaped stone is outside of its pouch. It is believed that Happiny is dreaming about playing house with its stone. Happiny has three different sleep styles it sleeps in: Smiling Sleep, Rock-Minding Sleep, and Playing-House Sleep.
Happiny and its evolved forms are the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Soft-Boiled by leveling up.

Happiny evolves into Chansey when leveled up while holding an Oval Stone during the day, which evolves into Blissey when leveled up with high friendship. Chansey cannot evolve into Blissey in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen before the player obtains the National Pokédex, as the Evolution will be interrupted. Chansey also cannot evolve into Blissey in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, as Blissey is not present in those games. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Happiny evolves into Chansey when exposed to an Oval Stone during the day. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the Luck Incense is not present and is no longer required to obtain Happiny through breeding; Happiny will always be produced when breeding Chansey or Blissey, regardless of held items.

Trivia
Happiny is the only Pokémon that evolves twice by leveling up under certain conditions, once by holding an item, and again with high friendship.
Happiny is tied with Chansey for the lowest base Attack and Defense stats of all Pokémon.
Happiny has the lowest base Special Attack stat of all Normal-type Pokémon.
Happiny was designed by Emi Yoshida.[1]
All moves Happiny can learn by leveling up in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are moves it could not legally learn before by any means. The only other Pokémon with this distinction is Burmy, which only learns Struggle Bug by level-up in Legends: Arceus.
Origin
Happiny shares some characteristics with infants, such as its soft skin, ponytail and diaper-like pouch. It also resembles an egg cup. The way it pretends to be an adult version of itself and acts like a nurse is reminiscent of little girls playing with dolls.
Name origin
Happiny may be a combination of happiness and tiny or teeny. It may also involve happenstance.
Pinpuku may be a combination of ピンク pinku (pink) and 福 fuku (good fortune).
