Dry Bowser - well, it took me 11 days to unlock him, and it was a bit tough. I was in 1st every time and had 3 stars at the end.
Finally unlocked him, and I'm sticking with him from this point on. Characters such as Rosalina, Toadette, Funky Kong, Baby Luigi, and Birdo are harder to unlock, with Toadette being the hardest for me.
However, I unlocked Rosalina after winning 50 races with a Super Mario Galaxy save file, and it was easy.

You have to be perfect in every nitro cup in 150cc to unlock him. I still can't even do that with Daisy on the Mach Bike or Funky Kong on the Flame Runner. I have completed Mirror Mode, and he is the only character I have yet to unlock.

Easy to unlock with a Super Mario Galaxy 1 save file (I have two of them), by winning just 50 races.
Easier to unlock than Daisy. To unlock Daisy it took me four full 150cc cups. When I unlocked Daisy, my parents were literally dabbing. LOL

I just unlocked her the hard way, which is by getting at least 1 star on every Mirror Mode cup, and holy crap. It was hell. I even broke my TV doing it by throwing a Wii Remote at it while raging and had to get a new one.
Mirror Mode is hard as hell. It was worth it, though!

Rosalina is hard to unlock only if you don't have a Super Mario Galaxy 1 (not 2) save file. I unlocked her the easy way because I have Super Mario Galaxy 1. If you don't have SMG1, you have to get a 1-star ranking on all mirror cups to unlock Rosalina.
Mii Outfit B

I just unlocked it after months, and oh boy...trying to unlock the expert staff ghosts for Ghost Valley 2 and Shy Guy Beach was a nightmare.
Still, I'm proud that I finally unlocked every character!

The absolute satisfaction you feel when you get all 32 expert staff ghosts unlocked… I felt like I ascended to Heaven when I finally did it. The picture you now see is actually a picture of my game being run on Dolphin emulator.

It's not worth it. It's your Mii being changed into Mario's costume. And you need 32 expert staff ghosts to unlock this?!
Toadette

Toadette is a very hard character to unlock. You have to play Time Trials on ALL courses, which is hell for me.
Why not make her a starter character? Same with Baby Luigi, Daisy, Baby Daisy, Dry Bones, Dry Bowser, and Funky Kong. It would be good if all characters were available from the start, as in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the first three Mario Kart games (SNES, N64, and GBA).
I'm trying to unlock her the easy way by playing a total of 2,550 races, and so far I've played 1,377 of them. Also, I hate playing Time Trials as there are no items, no opponents, and the triple mushrooms are basically useless.

My boyfriend was hyped when he unlocked Funky Kong after beating four expert staff ghosts. He is very good at this game and has played it since 2010.
But I'm not - I don't even play, and I don't care.

I unlocked him by accident because I used to do the time trials all the time when I was about five. My sister (the god of all video games in my family) still hasn't got him to this day. She was like, "How did you get him?" and I was like... "I don't know!"

I unlocked this dude by complete accident because when I was younger, about 6 or 7, I would only play the ghost races. So I unlocked him, and my older sister, who was a boss at the game, was like, HUH? HOW?!

I just cannot unlock this. I never play Time Trials because it is the worst mode.

Get him over Funky Kong. Wee Gee Jr. is twice as hard.

I'm trying to unlock her the easy way by playing a total of 2,850 races. So far, I have played 425 races and am trying to do the rest by playing with my sister, Lily.

She was so hard to unlock, it took me two whole years. I remember I wanted her so badly that I started to cry. The whole match, I was like, SERIOUSLY, DONKEY KONG, I HATE YOU! I was so loud I almost woke my dad up. When I finally got her, I started crying happy tears.
I am so sad because my MKWii game just went to game heaven. NOO!

Pretty hard for me to unlock. Did it anyway. By the way, Rosalina was easy! I just played the game after playing Super Mario Galaxy, and boom! She was there.

He's not too hard, but harder than King Boo, Dry Bones, Mii Outfit A, and others.
