HelloFresh Switches To Recyclable TemperPack's ClimaCell Liners

Meal-kit company HelloFresh has ditched its box liners and replaced them with TemperPack’s ClimaCell solution to strengthen curbside recyclability.

The move is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability.

According to HelloFresh, the new liners fare well in terms of performance, which the company says is at par with expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam.

Consumers can also dispose ClimaCell in curbside recycling bins alongside the corrugated box containing the packaging material.

HelloFresh is planning to implement this sustainability strategy to Green Chef’s box liners as well.

HelloFresh managing director and chief operating officer Uwe Voss said: “The ClimaCell recyclable liners are another example of how we listen to our customers that want quality fresh food conveniently delivered to their doorstep but with the most environmentally friendly packaging the meal kit category can deliver on.”

The company noted that the liner makes up more than 30% of the entire box volume.

TemperPack co-founder and co-CEO James McGoff said: “Consumers are evaluating the entire meal kit shipment, including the packaging, when deciding which service to go with.

“With guidance from market leaders like HelloFresh, we developed ClimaCell to help companies ease customer concerns on compromising waste for convenience.”

TemperPack is currently producing ClimaCell at its Richmond facility, with plans to expand manufacturing of the new material to its Las Vegas facility.

Founded in 2015, the company specialises in designing custom solutions for clients to scale in the perishable food and life sciences industries.
