3 Reasons Your Car is Whining
Your car could be making these noises for a plethora of reasons. However, when you begin to hear these noises during acceleration, it is mainly due to these three main reasons. There are typically three main reasons why your car might be making a whining noise, these include:
- Transmission Issues
- Power Steering Problems
- Engine Problems
Transmission Issues
Transmission issues are the primary suspect when your car is making a whining noise. The whining can come from your transmission when gears begin to wear down from constant use, or the transmission fluid is running low from a leak. It is very difficult to fully determine the noise unless a thorough inspection is carried out and a proper Vehicle Courtesy Check can determine the true cause. The reason for this is because of the number of parts that make up your transmission’s composition alone total up to 800 different pieces!
We suggest regular transmission service and Vehicle Courtesy Check make sure your transmission and transmission fluid are in good working order.

Power Steering Problems
Does the noise occur when you move your steering wheel? Then this could be the culprit. The belt in your steering wheel could have come loose and this could be the reason for the whining noise. If this is the case, it is simple to have this belt tightened.
The whining sound could also be caused by a leak within your power steering system. t is evident that power steering fluid is responsible for assisting the steering rack, pinon, and allowing the hydraulic pistons to operate. Without this precious fluid, your systems cannot fully function and this greatly increases the amount of effort required to even turn your wheel.
In more modern vehicles, these systems have been improved to function with gears, speed sensitivity, and some are even computerized. Despite these very modern advancements in steering, your car will still require fluid and maintenance to ensure that they function correctly.

That is why it is best to make sure that the necessary maintenance is performed to ensure proper engine care. There are numerous problems within could lead to a whining sound to come from your car. However, it can be hard to say exactly what the problem is without a thorough inspection and knowing the make and model of your car’s engine.
