Krispy Kreme's "HOT NOW" light proves Pavlov's behavioral theories: Our mouths start watering at the sight of those six neon letters. That's because they mean warm, melty clouds of lusciousness are available for the eating.

In the past, you could make a good guess as to when the hot light would come on, based on habits of most restaurant owners. According to an article on Reader Digest's website, glazed donuts are made twice a day, in the morning and again in the afternoon or early evening. However, each store has its own schedule so knowing the exact times is difficult. You could just drive by the store for a couple of hours every day until the light comes on, but that could impact your work and family life so we don't recommend it.

So now we're in on a little secret that's been around for a while but somehow managed to escape us: Krispy Kreme has an app for that. Yep, the same app that tells you which stores are nearby and offers coupons also has a hot light indicator.

"Every time an employee switches on the hot light to start baking fresh doughnuts, the app's 'Hot Now' symbol on your phone also turns red," Readers Digest said. Read the full story here.
