Horizon Forbidden West Release Time - Game Rant

Horizon Forbidden West is the latest first-party PlayStation exclusive from Guerrilla Games, the developers behind Horizon Zero Dawn, and the Killzone series. The open-world adventure will see Aloy exploring a post-apocalyptic version of the west side of the United States. Promotional material for Horizon Forbidden West even shows off a ruined version of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, so players should expect to hang out in California, as well as other nearby "states" and the Pacific Ocean.

Horizon Forbidden West is launching for PS4 and PS5 (there's no PC port confirmed just yet) on February 18, 2022, so physical owners will need to buy the game from their local game shop or pre-order it from a retailer online like Amazon or Best Buy to get it delivered. As for folks planning on playing the game digitally, they should be aware of the expected release times for Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West Release Time

PS4 and PS5 gamers can expect Horizon Forbidden West to release digitally at midnight local time on the day of release. This means that gamers in places like Australia and New Zealand will be able to play the game much earlier than those in the United States or Europe. However, it seems that some people claim that, for the states at least, Horizon Forbidden West will unlock at 12 AM ET on February 18, 2022. There's no official confirmation from Sony, but it seems that regardless, players will be able to hop into Aloy's latest adventure on the night before it comes out.

Horizon Forbidden West Preload and File Size

Players can already pre-download Horizon Forbidden West on their respective console, but it's worth noting that if a player purchases the PS4 version of the game on their PS5, pre-load will not be available. They'll need to wait until the game officially launches before they start downloading. However, PS gamers can save $10 if they buy the PS4 version and then upgrade it for free to the PS5 edition. Otherwise, gamers will spend about $70+ to straight-up buy the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West.

Before pre-loading the game onto the console, players need to have plenty of free space on the hard drive. Horizon Forbidden West takes up 87 GB of space for the US version, 98 GB for the EU version, and 83 GB for the Japanese version.
