Introduction

To obtain a higher-tier horse, you can either buy a horse from the horse market or start horse taming and breeding them yourself.

Capturing horses in the wild also gives you Training EXP, and is useful for power leveling your Training lifeskill. The respawn time for wild horses is 30 min to 60 min, so you will need to swap channels often if you are planning to power leveling your training skill.

What you will need

To capture a horse, you will need two items:

• Capturing Rope
• Lump of Raw Sugar

For your first attempt, you may want to bring lots of Capturing Ropes and a few extra Lumps of Raw Sugar.

Wild Horse Locations

The best and most popular spot for Horse Taming is just outside Duvencrune. The horses can be found south of Duvencrune, and west of the Gayak Altar node.

The reason this spot is popular is because there is a higher chance of finding tier 7 horses here, meaning more silver and better horses for breeding.

However, all wild horses give the same amount of Training EXP, so if you are trying to power level your Training, you may want to go somewhere quieter and close to a Stable Keeper.

My favorite location for EXP is the wild horses just outside of Epheria Port.

Wild Horse Levels and Tiers

Wild horses can range from level 1-20 and Tier 6-8. You will only know the level of the horse when you put it in your stable, and it is completely random what the horse level will start as. You can know the tier of the horse beforehand though by checking the coat (appearance) of the horse before you capture it.

Rare Wild Horses

There are also rare wild horses that can be captured:

Horse Taming Mini-game

I recommend reading through this section completely before you start horse taming. This is so you understand fully what to do and don’t waste materials.

• Put the Capturing Ropes and Lumps of Raw Sugar onto your hotkey bar.
• Approach the horse slowly. If you get too close, the horse will run away from you.
• Use the key on your Hotbar to equip the Capturing Rope (or right-click the Capturing Rope in your inventory).
• You can move with the Capturing Rope equipped, but you will move slower.
• Align your cursor with the horse and press LMB when the cross-hair turns red.
• If the horse is in range and targetted, the first mini-game will start
  • A bar will show on the right side of your character and will start to fill up. You have 1 attempt to press [SPACE] at the correct time when the bar is in the blue area.

• Now you can start walking towards the horse using [W].
• If the horse stands up on its hind legs, you need to press [SPACE] to start the second mini-game
  • There will be a 10-second timer and you need to continuously press [SPACE] to make sure that the red bar is at least 50% when the timer ends.
  • You may need to repeat this mini-game multiple times.

• If you are successful, you can start walking over to the horse again.
• When you get close enough, the interaction options will show up for the horse.
• Press F5 to use an item from your inventory, and feed the horse one Lump of Raw Sugar.
• You can now Press “R” to attempt to Mount the horse.
  • There is a chance that this can fail, no matter what you do or how high-level training you have. If you fail to mount the horse, you can retry by equipping a Capturing Rope again and following the same process.

Where to take your Tamed Horse

After successfully taming and mounting a wild horse, you can register it to a Stable by either taking the horse to a Stable Keeper or registering the horse directly at your Wagon

Tip: You can get off the tamed horse and then mount your regular horse and the tamed horse will still follow. The reason you want to do this is because a tamed horse will only trot and cannot sprint or use skills, so use your normal horse to take it back to the stable quickly.

Don’t worry if the horse goes out of range, it will still follow you, just wait a couple of seconds for the horse to appear when you arrive!

If you take the wild horse to a Stable Keeper, click the button to register the horse and enter a name for your new horse.

If you choose to register the horse at your Wagon, you just need to unmount the wild horse and then go up to your wagon. Use the F8 option “Register Wild Horse” to enter a name and send the horse directly to the Stable. The horse will go to the Stable that your wagon was last taken out of.

For example, I collected my wagon from the Tarif Stable Keeper, so if I register a horse using my wagon, the horse will go to the Tarif stable.

Horse Taming Gear and Buffs

When Horse Taming, you want to use gear and buffs that increase your Horse Capture Rate and Training EXP.

• If you are looking to power level your Training life skill, stack as many Life EXP buffs as possible using our Life Skill EXP buff list.
• You can also use the Training EXP Calculator by Wolfy to help you work out how long it will take to power level your Training.

If you are focused on power leveling your Training and need to stack Training EXP, a cheap setup is to use x2 Trainer’s Clothes (one in the pearl slot and one in gear slot). This will give you +20% Training EXP.

Another alternative is to use Mastery clothes in your gear slot with just x1 Trainer’s Clothes. It depends on what level your Mastery clothes are. For example, the TRI Loggia Trainer’s Clothes gives +13% Training EXP, which is higher than using Trainer’s Clothes.

Sold by Luxury Vendors Can use an Equipment Tailoring Coupon to turn into a costume and wear Trainer’s Clothes x2

You should also equip any Mastery Accessories you have from other life skills and any Crystals and Artifacts/Lightstones you have available:

Agewrought Luminous Rope

The Agewrought Luminous Rope is a permanent capturing rope and can be obtained by completing the [Leap] Hnor to the Training Family quests.

Prerequisites At least Training Master 1 Quest Complete: [Training Leap Artisan 10] Emergency Aid Quest Complete: [Leap] Honor to the Training Family #6	After meeting the prerequisites, accept and complete the “[Leap] Honor to the Training Family #7” quest from Lorenzo Murray in Velia.

Merindora’s Eversweet Raw Sugar

The Merindora’s Eversweet Raw Sugar is a permanent version of the Raw Sugar Lump and can be obtained from Krogdalo’s Trace. You must own the Krogdalo’s Sanctuary treasure item by collecting all 3 Mythical horses, to obtain this item.

Prerequisite Krogdalo’s Sanctuary in possession	After meeting the prerequisite, accept and complete the quest “[Krogdalo’s Sanctuary] Eversweet Aroma” from Krogdalo’s Trace.
