What Do House Mice Look Like?
The adult house mouse can grow to be approximately 5 ½ to 7 inches in length including the tail; they have a round body shape. House mice have very large ears and tiny dark eyes, their fur can range in color from brown to grayish-black and they will have a lighter colored underbelly.
Why Do I Have A House Mouse Problem?
House mice prefer dark, secluded places with little disturbance and plenty of nesting material, such as paper, fabric, insulation, packing materials and cotton.
Do House Mice Nest Inside?
Yes, as their name suggests house mice are one of the most common species of mouse to be found living and nesting inside of a home. House mice do mainly live outside, but venture indoors when looking for food, water and possibly shelter.
How Can I Tell If I Have A House Mouse Problem?
Although house mice are fairly small in size they can be quite noisy at night when they are most active. It’s not uncommon to hear them in the ceiling or inside the walls. You may also discover droppings in your kitchen and other areas where there is a food source or where they are nesting. The only way to actually know for sure if you have house mice (rather than deer mice or another type of rodent) is to actually see the pest.
What Kind Of Threat Do House Mice Pose?
The house mouse gnaws objects, eats and contaminates stored food and transmits disease by droppings, urine, bites and direct contact, or contact with cats, fleas and mites.
How Do I Control House Mice?
Because openings larger than 1/4 inch permits a house mouse to enter a structure, this mouse and other rodents in Texas can be difficult to control. Contact Holder’s at the first sign of a mouse problem in your home or business in Houston and you can relax knowing that your rodent infestation will be resolved.
How Do You Prevent House Mice?
To stop mice from entering your home, you must make it so they can’t get in. Seal any holes, gaps or openings on the exterior, caulk around windows and install door sweeps. You should also make sure that you eliminate any potential food source. This means wiping up crumbs and spills, storing food in sealed containers and not leaving pet food out all night. Our experienced pest professionals can help you identify problem areas and eliminate house mice.
