Yes, you need to admin yourself in order to spawn things in. As long as you are in admin mode you will not take damage, will have all the recipes and whatnot unlocked, and various godly things like that. The second admin command is to remove your admin powers in order to play the game normally once you've spawned your items in. There should never be a space in an item name; spaces separate the different variables in the command.
