While there has been no indication the dastardly character is still alive in the show, there is some hope for those wanting to see him back.

During a new series of interviews on Facebook called the End of Summer series, author Gabaldon gave an interesting tease.

When she was asked by show producer Maril Davis if she has ever gone back on storylines, Gabaldon revealed she had.

She explained: 'As my husband has said, ‘You can't tell if anybody in your books is really dead unless you saw them go [dying noise] right in front of you.''

The author didn't give any indication about whom she was talking about, but it seems possible some characters thought to be dead could make a reappearance.

Viewers will just have to wait and see if Randall might be one of them when the series continues.

Is Black Jack Randall alive in the books?

So far in Gabaldon's novels, Randall is definitely dead in Jamie and Claire's timeline.
