Aun Jafery answered Nothing is known about how St Patrick died. It seems that he probably died of natural causes. He died on the 17th March 493 according to recent research. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He is buried in Downpatrick's Down Cathedral. In Christian Ireland in earlier times his body emerged as an object of veneration.Some alternative names of St Patrick are 'Maewyn Succat', Patricius and Patrizio. He was born in 385 AD. He is also Nigeria's patron saint, since that country was evangelised by missionaries from Ireland. St Patrick was from a staunch Christian family but he was m=not religious as a child. His first patron that he converted was Saint Dichu who presented him with a large barn where a church could be constructed.
